When you ask a question like "Who wants to date the fat chick" the tone (in my mind at least) is set to "Comedy, fun, good natured ribbing)
If it was a serious question, maybe you should have phrased it, "Who wants to date the sensative big boned girl" or something, then I would have toned down my response.
