... it really didn't deserve the ire that it received. In-and-of-itself, it's a perfectly fine way to waste a couple of hours. Unfortunately, when 2 SUPERSTARS make a movie together, the general popualtion expects the outcome to make the world shake... so the expectations somewhat doomed the movie from the beginning.

If 2 lesser known actors were the stars, the movie would've opened well, lasted a couple of weeks in the top 10, and then sell/ rent a bunch of DVDs in 4 months. But whatever...

As for J.Lo .... she's a perfectly capable actor, and even inspired at times. From my third-person perspective, it just seems like she choosing the movies. Or possibly, she's listening to the wrong people in regards to her movie career. With the right words and director, her talent can really shine (if you doubt that, go re-watch "Out of Sight").
