Oh, my God... Jimmy Fallon in Almost Famous? THAT WAS HIM?????
I can't *stand* Jimmy Fallon on SNL, especially beside the much better Tina Fay, but that was an awesome performance in Almost Famous. I'm going to have to rethink this whole thing.
And I haven't read the fletch books in over 10 years... guess it's time to pull them out again.
: I'm sorry to see Lee isn't going to be in it, but oh well. Stealing Harvard makes me want to inflict physical harm on myself. It's a shame, but I'm glad to see the movie getting made. As for the possible actors, here's my two cents:
: Ben Affleck - I'd watch this guy in anything. I'm curious to see what Kevin's talking about with the "real ben" comment. I can see Ben doing it, but I can't help but picture him in the Alston Chambers role. Speaking of which, who is gonna play Alston?
: Brad Pitt - I love the idea. Watching his few minutes in True Romance shows he can do comedy (sorry, not a fan of The Mexican. Not his fault, just dont like the movie).
: Will Smith - While certainly not the most likely of picks, I think Smith is my top choice now that Lee is out. I think he could do Fletch perfectly.
: Jimmy Fallon - Like him in Almost Famous, hated him on SNL. I don't know about this pick.
: Adam Sandler - I don't know. I like him and his movies a lot, and he shocked me in Punch Drunk Love, but this role doesn't seem right for him.
: Regardless, I'm happy. And just cause this is getting rolling again, here's my old cast wishlist for the film:
: Fletch - Covered above.
: Barbara - Natasha Gregson Wagner (I love her and want her in every movie that's ever made)
: Biff Wilson - Alec Baldwin or William Forsythe
: Frank Jaffe - Chevy Chase or Jim Belushi
: Tom Farliegh - I used to have Michael Jeter, now that he's gone, I don't know.
: Alston Chambers - Mark Wahlberg, since Ben may have Fletch
: Louise Habeck - Anne Bancroft (She did it so well in Great Expectations, I pictured her the entire time)
: Robert Habeck - Brian O'Halleron (I pictured our Dante as the unforgiving son/monk.)
: Nancy Habeck - Don't know.
: Cindy - Stacy Dash (sure, she killed her career with the Clueless tv show, but she was great in Mo Money)
: Marta - Rene Russo (she may be too old, but I saw her as I read)
: Jasmine - Lisa Kudrow (Sometimes she looks great, other times, she doesn't. Fletch commented on how she looked different up close. Lisa could pull it off)
: Lieutenant Gomez - Michael Rooker (Honestly, I didn't know who to pick for this one, so I chose Rooker because he was in Mallrats.)
: Felix Gabais - ??? Pick someone
: Stuart Childers - same as above.
