But you may have been thinking of the Monkees (or the person who told that may have been)...also, the early Beatles albums are quite more poppy that their previous material, and this is probably due to record company influence (although record companies exerted far greater influence over their acts back then than they do today). All those movies were definitely more part of a company scheme than a part of the Beatles' creativity. (although Magical Mystery Tour is a weird one...)
