I expected massive gore, everyone dying, or something... the 2nd ending wasn't THAT much different that the original, just more depressing I suppose. No one I know has liked the second ending, some going so far as to say it kind of ruined the ending of the movie. I expected something kind of wacky, especially whenever it said "what if..." But, it really isn't all that much.
