It's already sort of been said in a post above...what you saw was the Hollywood ending...Jim lives, everyone's happy and waiting for the plane to come and pick them up...woo hoo, happy ending.
In the alternate ending (the original ending), it's more realistic. Jim's got a gut shot...he dies...this is probably what would really happen. They try to revive him, CPR and the like, but to no avail. Then, Selena and Hannah walk out of the room and move on.
