Dear Kevin Smith,
I recently viewed your film "Dogma" for the first time a few nights ago. As a writer and a junky for good writing, I have to tell you "Dogma" was one of the most shrewd and witty scripts I have seen in a while. Not since Charie Kaufman's "Being John Malkovich" have I been that impressed with original scriptwriting. All compliments aside (I'm sure you have some idea of how clever you are--we writer's have a knack for knowing, or at least suspecting we are gifted) at any rate my question to you doesn't involve writing or filmmaking. I was curious as to what your views, reactions, what have you, were about the recent Vatican doctorine/task force regarding the banning of gay marriage. It seems to me that we are headed towards a dark age with such outdated views, but then again, I am technically an Anglican; which is really like Catholic-Lite (all the ceremony, none of the guilt). Anyway, I do so enjoy the volley of intellectuals and thier thought process, especially when done in a light-hearted, non-judgemental way. That said, if you wouldn't mind sharing, what are your thoughts?
