Quite the opposite. Look at globalization and the world economy, NYC is the financial and media capital of the world. The UN is there, how's that for non-insular-american-guy? Combine that with the huge diverse population, the cultural aspects of NYC, the history of the city, I say it's a world-leader. What other city could possibly compete? London's the only one that comes close, and it's second fiddle in almost every respect....
