: : from an uneducated back woods nobody, I bring forth this observation. Kevin chooses not to branch out into unfamiliar grounds outside of Ben, jay and his friends because by always including these characters his movies will never be more than second rate. He sets himself for an expected failure so that if he was to put his actual very talented skill on the line away from his comfort zone, failure would crush him. I know the backlash I will receive from this, but fuck off. That's what this is here for, to express our opinions. So scream yell bitch and moan, do whatever makes you feel better as Kevin continues to do what makes him feel safe. thanks

: A) He's got a family to support, so failure's not as much of an option as it used to be.
: B) He took a huge risk with Clerks. That movie alone could've put him ass deep in debt and left him working at WalMart for the rest of his life...
: C) He keeps casting the same people not only because he's seen success with them, but because more often than not, they're friends of his. It's a lot easier to work with friends than it is to work with the enemies/unknowns. Plus, if he didn't offer a role to one of them once in a while, it might be screwing over a friend. That would be a sucky thing to do, and I don't think Kevin would be the type to screw someone over...

: But that's just my own pathetic opinion...

you talk as if you know him, do you? I doubt it. He took a huge rick with clerks. Fine, but after that what was his excuse? He fell into this type casting before his family came along. and friends dont let friends do bad movies
