Many of you probably won't care about this, but I noticed this bit of misinformation in the FAQ page of buymusic.com, the new pay-per-download music site. I think a few of the techie geeks like me might get a chuckle out of this, though...:
"What’s the difference between “plus” and “minus” CD burners and CD media?
Your CD media, or blank disks, must be compatible with your CD burner. There are two types of burners and four types of media.
It doesn’t matter if your burner is internal or external, it is either a “plus” or “minus” burner. CD+ burners burn CD+ disks. CD- burners burn CD- disks. Examples: You can burn your music files onto X Brand CD+R disks using your Y Brand CD+ Burner. Or you can burn your music onto W Brand CD-R disks using your Z Brand CD- Burner."
Again, many of you probably don't care, but here's my off-topic little rant: If a company knows so little about technology that it actually thinks that there is such a thing as CD+R, then it really shouldn't be in the music tech biz. Pretty much any person who currently downloads "illegal" MP3s is going to read a statement like that and simply laugh -- your average P2P-er is going to know more about CD-Rs than buymusic.com; it'll be difficult to convince someone to use your service if you don't even know the basics.
Anyway...proceed with the chlorophyll...
