: I just started (I'm about halfway through) "An Askew View" and I must say, it is MUCH better than "Spike, Mike, Slackers, and Dykes". The latter seemed very dry and was written with waht appears to be an assumption on the part of the writer that the reader has a certain knowledge level of independent films. With my "scatching the surface" knowledge, I found it hard to follow at times, I knew of the theatres he mentions, but not all of the films, prodiuution companies, writers or directors. It is definitely a book for the more initiated independent film fan. No disrespect to MR. Pierson.

: "an Askew View", however, is written from what I consider my own point of view - someone who has seen Kevin's work and must know everything there is to know about how it came to be. With it's collected insights on production and post production from cast and crew this book takes what I learned from watching "An evening with..." and fill in the holes.

: I HIGHLY recommend it, It'll make a great Christmas gift! (heh)
