It has to be an interesting TV show. If you get people watching the TV show all through its development you give it a built-in audience. I think you'll see that this 'small studio' film gets a much wider release than Stolen Summer did. Its not hard to make back your money on a low budget flick if there's a decent opening weekend thanks to a built-in and previously aware audience.
Having said that, to watch TWO WOMEN bitch at each other over 13-20 weeks might have grated on the viewer's nerves a bit. That's not HBO that's Oxygen. There had to be a balance. You had the other guy, the one who looked like Ricky Shroeder. He might have been the better choice, but as far as making a compelling television show, they seem to have chosen wisely.
The ponytail guy seems like a misrepresentated character of an Mr. Show Bob Odenkerk character. The other guy, you just want to choke whenever he's on screen.
The girl's alright, but the whole point of the show is going to be to get her to cry. That's just good television. She's getting misty at this point, maybe next week we'll see the water works.
Everything about that final selection process was wrong. Just wrong.

My take anyway.
