...because it was confusing as hell - I'm not sure how faithful it was to the comics, but the cartoon was just insane. Esepcially the 'Dark Phoenix' saga... hey, look, Jean Grey's been kidnapped and brain-washed by a bunch of old-timey people! And now Cyclops is having some sort of psychic sword-fight! And now they're in outer-space! And now they're fighting aliens! All this happened within 4 20 minute episodes. It was glorious.
