I mean, A Guy Thing did pretty well, didn't it? Personally, I can't think of a thing I've seen Lee in where I wasn't impressed with his performance.
And while not a box office smash, I think Lee's behavior in Mallrats is fairly ideal in demonstrating that he COULD pull off the character of Fletch.
