hitting "Stop" and then proceed to clear your history? Sounds like a bug or another program that's forwarding your history (or a sticky button). Otherwise I'd do a full virus scan and system scan to see if it uncovers something. If none of the above, get your hands on another browers (Netscape or so) and use it to download any new updates or fixes for Explorer.
