We're criticized because the means of effective communication are owned by the same entities that make the weapons that sell all pretty for fights... and beyond that, we have to put up with the people who have been isolated from the actual facts of history to such an extent that they don't even know that anything's been hidden from them.
The artist, the reporter and the leader are whore to the soldier, the priest and the merchant. Until this order is upended, nothing can change for more than half a generation... all the idealism and passion in the world can only beat out the will to superiority and the will to fear for a little while... idealism and passion have the bursts of energy...
But damned if money and hate don't have STAYING power and the minute your ideals and your passions fade... and you expect that good will and intellect can actually COAST for a little while, here they come again.
Intellect and compassion will some day have to accept that they can never blink in the face of money and hate, never give them an even break, never give them an inch because they're going to take an eight-miles-high if we don't watch out.
Sane times are fragile, insanity'll take a gunshot to the nuts and just keep on going, like a dime-store zombie in a cowboy world.
