: : -Back in 1999, when the Farrelly Bros were considering going with more of an "odd couple" approach to the twins (versus eventually two actors, Damon and Kinnear, who could conceivably actually be brothers). Following that mindset, their original top choices to play the two brothers were Jim Carrey and... Woody Allen (even though their ages are separated by 26 years).
: : -At one point in 2001, after the Farrelly Bros had been working on this film for so many years and it looked like they might never direct it, 20th Century Fox had been in talks with Peter Segal (Tommy Boy) about replacing them, but he ended up doing Anger Management instead.
