: Let's say that you buy your girlfriend a ring (or if you're a female then your boyfriend buys you a ring) and a small diamond falls off of the ring -- should you (the guy) be expected to replace the diamond?

: Here's what I think. If a someone bought me a TV and it craps out they're not obligated to buy me a new TV or even pay for it to be fixed, right? Don't get me wrong, I'd have no problem paying to have the ring fixed -- it's just that automatic assumption that I was going to get it fixed that pisses me off ... hypothetically.
