"I cannot return to the place from which I've sped,
Love has moved me,
love has made me speak." The Divine Comedy
and it got me thinking something that I have held onto since:
I think that there is some unexplicable essence, whether it be an idea, vision, person or occurence which represents it; that essence has the capabilty to move people and make them speak. After the experience they never remain quite the same as they were. I think that all writers, on some level, are aspiring to do that through stories. Stories have the ability to encapsulate all of those things which may, god willing, propel people to that point that Dante was at when he said those lines.
So, to answer your question, that is what I would want to make a movie about. That said, IM NOT GIVING YOU ANY OF MY GENIUS STORIES!!!
: I know i've been pitching alot of ideas around lately but i really just want to start writing a good screenplay.
Well, 311, I think that that is a very noble endeavor.
: You have both insulted and admired some of my many ideas. But let's face it, they we're mostly stupid.
You must be young. WHO GIVES A FUCK WHAT WE THINK?!? If you really thought they were stupid you would not have posted them here. You liked those stories, and with good reason. Your onto a good start, but nothing I can say will convince you of that. Just don't let these guys convince you otherwise.
I'm probably not much older than you, but let me clue you into something: Most of the individuals that are actually WRITING their scripts are hacks... virtually ALL of the individuals lurking around here spouting criticism towards everthing from J. Lo to your script ideas ASPIRE to be hacks. (With the exception of Brian Lynch... he's no hack regardless of his criticisms)
Don't ask our opinion. This is the wrong forum for this. I doubt it will quelch your creativity, but it could off-set it and give you reasons to procrastinate. If you want legitimate constructive opinion take a class, join a writing group, or ask someone you trust.
My old English professor is one of the most valueable creative tools I have. He has wonderful insight, is well-read, and even proofreads my work!
: I might not use your idea but i would like to see the type of movie you guys/girls are interested in.
Oh baby, you would rip my ideas off in a red-hot minute!!! Fortunatley, you wouldn't possibly be capable of writing a decent script from them anytime soon.
: Thanks.
