He might still be in his transition period, maybe? You said he was very insecure. I mean, I know people who are just now settling into their personalities, because for some of them college was just an extended version of high school. A lot of the same worries about fitting in, hanging with the right crew, etc. So maybe he is still trying to figure it all out? He's had maybe a year in the "real world" and while that is quite often a wake up call, maybe he is just a little slower in figuring it out for himself yet. I wonder if you saw him in a year, he woulsnt have another perspective.
