The comic references are like the movie references-they enhance the films for those that 'get' them, but they don't detract from the enjoyment for those who don't. In fact, most of the time the comic references are not crucial to the jokes at all. And in America (as most of the free world) you can like what you want regardless. In fact, if you can't, technically you're not in a free country and I'm sure there are activists working on that right now.

I have an online friend there, I have known her for like, over 4 years now, (i a in the US), and as far as medical stuff and being unemployed Australia has it far far better than in the states, here your just out of luck in most cases. This is a pet peeve of mine, that here the medical field is a greedy industry over being helpful to those who need it.
