If by 'director', you mean 'lets his own personal beliefs not only get in the way of telling a story, but take the place that most directors would reserve for the story', then sure. But if you're talking about interesting storytelling, performances from actors [I mean, Spike has Denzel and Kevin has Affleck, and both of them put in really solid performances in their movies ... but Denzel is one of the best actors in the country, so of course he's good in Spike's stuff ... whereas Ben hasn't quite found another director who can get as much out of him as Kevin], and all that other stuff, I'd say Kevin is a better director.
