Let's put you in the position of the potential sellout. Would you turn down millions of dollars in order to stay on an independant label, even though noone is going to hear your records anyway? Those that are able to get such deals control what goes on their own CDs anyway, so it's not like they are losing creative control.
And another thing. Music is not that important where we should be arguing the merits of selling out. If people want to pay you millions of dollars to make MORE music . . . TAKE THE MONEY!
