A Marvel Zombie? Well, the new Punisher by Garth Ennis is great, the whole Ultimate Universe (updated take on the X-Men, Spider-Man, and the Avengers) is quite good, Alias by Brian Michael Bendis is good (look for the trade[s]). In fact, Marvel is putting out so much good stuff right now, that it's hard to limit my suggestions.

As for non-Marvel, there has been a lot of great stuff published in the last 10 years. I'd definitely recommend the Preacher series as a great place to start and an introduction to what comics can be when you move beyond super heroes.

Oh, and I guess that Kevin Smith guy has done some Clerks, Jay & Silent Bob, Green Arrow, Daredevil, and Spider-Man comics you might want to check out.
