I think that they are actually quite similar in their kind of humor, but rather Chevy is more idiotic and Lee is more sarcastic. But im sure Lee has the ability to mimic Chevy's style quite easily.
You should look at some of the other SNL cast members from his time, Bill Murray and Dan Akroyd aged pretty badly. And Harold Ramis (of ghost busters and stripes fame) i saw him in Orange County the other day, he looks so old.
