:Thank you for this helpful information I am suprised at all of the feedback I have recieved! I was wanting to get the new dvd soon so mabey it will help also,
Thanks,Kyle

I would also add(sorry) don't get yourself an actual FILM
: camera, until you've read the book, so you will know what
: all will be involved in using physical film (16 and 32mm)
: as far as getting it(shot film) into a Mac for editing
: (not cheap) or paying for transfers(not cheap). Me personaly,
: I am going to go the 9 and invest in the Mac and transfer
: equipment, but you may have a different timeline and budgetary
: layout. Now keep in mind, at time of writing, we are in a recession
: and I am very very broke( My debit card turned down for 25 dollars
: last night) but those with TRUE resourcefulness will get what
: they NEED. ESPECIALLY if The Force is with you. But to start
: with (unless you are a spoiled rich kid) look into digital. Kevin
: even said in FilmMaker The magazine of Independant Film, that if
: he were to be shooting Clerks now, he would probably do it in
: digital, or something to that effect. It seems the way to go.
: It is still expensive to INITIALLY get the stuff, but the USE
: of it is cheap BIG TIME. So what do ya do. RESEARCH. Google.
: And pick up the book "What They Don't Teach You at Film School. 161 Strategies For Making Your Own Movie No Matter What" by Camile Landau and Tiare White. These are some VERY intuitive Ladies(does that suprise?)
: who know, one way or another what YOU are going through. You know those
: pictures that have eyes that look at you where ever you go in the room?
: THATS how their book is on feeling like THEY are talking DIRECTLY to
: YOU! (I am not any of these people I've mentioned, by the way. This is
: genuine shit here bro!)And Im not in any way Askew associated, so
: you can discard my advice if that is your most important criteria,
: but man, get THOSE books and you will have by far MOST of your
: questions answered. They will be replaced with many new ones, but
: the ones you've got now and then some, should be pretty well covered.
: Well, the Kevin Smith DVD is pretty important too, as it is very
: INFORMATIVE and INSPIRATIONAL! And also, it's a hoot. (I'm from
: where Deliverance was made!)(And a real good Johnny Cash and
: Kenny Rodgers Movie!) (Cedartown Georgia)

: : I would very enthusiasticly(sp?) recommend the DVD "An Evening with Kevin Smith" for this, as he all but throws down a blueprint and a blessing.
: : It is the reason I am a filmaker today. (yeah I know it only came
: : out a few weeks ago, but it is potent shit, and I shit you not,
: : I AM NOW a Filmaker as a result of this AWESOME DVD!
: : And pick yourself up a copy of the book (which has
: : Kevins very high praise onthe back cover, "Feature Filmaking at
: : Used Car Prices, How to Write, Produce, Direct, Shoot, Edit, and Promote
: : a Feature-Length Movie for Less Than $15,000". About this book Kevin
: : says, "Without Ricks (Schmidt)book, Clerks would have never made it
: : past this page.". Now I don't pretend to know what Kevin is talking
: : about there, but I'm sure glad it did't happen, how bout you? You'd
: : better get this book before SOMETHING ELSE happens that nobody knows
: : what your talking about (Your Movie) and grab yourself a camera
: : (You can get a really cheap 16mm on Ebay, or a hi8 at WalMart for
: : about $285 that you can indiscriminantly shoot for days and get
: : instant watchable (and SHOWABLE!) results!). Shit, I've told too
: : much. Mus'nt create EVEN MORE competition. Er' Good Luck!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

:
: : : Crew at askew,
: : : My name is kyle and I am currently at highschool in southren IL, and I am looking into the film world. I was wondering if there was any advice that you could give me on getting started in film. Your films are awesome!

: : : Kyle
