You're so STRICT.

On another note, Phish aren't really much like the Dead. It's a much jazzier, harder sound. I've never heard Rusted Root, although the main guy was at the Grassroots Festival a couple of years back leading the drum circles. All I know is my friend wandered back at 6 in the morning, tripping, with paint smeared on her badly swollen right hand, saying "I don't think I can go to work today". So he must be at least a fun guy to hang with.

And I actually like Dave Matthews' music for the most part, except for the more sad-bastardy stuff, and "Everyday", which is the suckingest suck that ever sucked. Lord knows I would NOT want to go to one of their shows, though, for the white-hat contingent freaks me out.

In general with music, though, I'm into smaller groups anyway, so I can agree with you. There was a lot of good stuff at Bonnaroo last year, most of which wouldn't necessarily fit the "jamband" category. Though whoever's idea it was to have a festival in June in Tennessee on a shadeless farm needs to be slapped upside the head.

P.S. Suzie, I'd LOVE the ticket, but I blew a wad of cash on the Hamptons & New Years shows already, and I'm broke, so I can't justify it. Very nice of you to offer though.

: : do you like phish? because i have an extra ticket to this long island show, and i was wondering if you wanted to go? let me know:) suzie

: But then I realized that I only disliked jam bands that were trying to play up to kids who wished they were old enough to see The Dead (Phish, Rusted Root, etc)... and that I only hated jam bands that played to frosted-hair-fratboys who wear that one little hemp bracelet in hopes of occasionally nailing a hippie chick in the back of their Escalade (Dave Matthews Band, Dave Matthews Band, Dave Matthews Band, etc)...

: And that some jam bands, ones that were actually trying to do new things with music, were quite good... Moxy Fruvous, Hyponotic Clambake... and had something to say about mixing genres of music and so forth.

: PS- Since some people don't seem to understand the idea of exaggerating your opinions for comic effect, I just wanted to note that I TOTALLY COMPLETELY meant everything I said up there... and it's TOTALLY COMPLETELY NOT that I just dislike Phish's album stuff and some of their bootlegged jams are kind of nice and I just also wanted to note that I BLINDLY AND ABSOLUTELY believe that the only people who listen to Dave Matthews are frat-boy daterapists who listen to pretend to be more sensitive than they actually are. My friends and I TOTALLY didn't sneak backstage at Horde 96 and discover what cool guys various members of Rusted Root were, despite our general dislike of most of their tunes. Furthermore, no one's ever kidding or exaggerating on the internet, there is no grand comic tradition of wildly exaggerating your opinions going back much further than Mark Twain, through Lenny Bruce, George Carlin and Bill Hicks and on today into
: David Cross and Lewis Black just to name a few. I TOTALLY believe that Phish are the modern day Nazi party and COMPLETELY need their bongs smashed so that history doesn't repeat itself.
