A turn of the century piece about NY gangs. Who else could have done it? Coppola? I don't think so. His style is too "operatic". Maybe Serge, but he's as dead as David Naughton's career. The only thing I worried about was Leo, as the nubile young babes call him. Other than "Gilbert Grape" and "This Boy's Life" he really hasn't impressed me. It's got nothing to do with him being so pretty or stealing my chicks, but as an adult actor I have found him to be, if not unbeleievable, insincere.
But I am glad you liked so much that words escape you as I have been waiting for this film to open.
