The books are very well-written and well-done. The movies, in comparison, are horrible. Standing on their own, they're all right, but no great shakes plot-wise because it's hard to fit in every detail that makes the books great into a 2-hour film, and it always seems like they try to hard to do that. Frankly, I just wish they'd stick to the books and not do all this merchandising and film-making. But, Warner Bros. sees dollar signs in anything Harry Potter-related, so it's only natural for them to spew out a bunch of shitty action figures, candy, and movies. And it was so great that children were getting back into reading books without all the merchandise and commercialism attached to it. Oh, well.
