: pure and simple. The person he is sucks, and the music is god-awful. You want a list of better rappers
----First off, neither you nor I know him personally, all we know of him is his rap and his skills are undeniable. I will dissect your list for you...
: Outkast--original and that's saying something in this age of copy cats, but I'm just not that into them.
: De La Soul (their latest album came out 2001)---Very well respected.
: Wu Tang Clan--One of my all time favorites but haven't had a GREAT album since their first. The double album would've been great had they pared down the great tracks to one CD but they got greedy. Only built for Cuban Linx was better than any other album put out by the WU since they came out. Granted, there has been good tracks throughout but nothing has touched Enter The Wu Tang
: Ludacris---Funny , skillful rapper but I need to see more
: Nelly---PLeaseeeeeeee.
: Ja Rule---See Nelly. Every one of his songs sound alike and worse, he is following a formula.
: Goodie Mob----That's your opinion, not going to diss it.
: Killer Mike---See above
: Cee Lo---See Ludacris
: Timbaland & Magoo -----Yo Tim, stick to producing.
: Busta Rhymes-----This is your best argument.
: Nas----No one is going to dispute his rhyming skills but that doesn't mean shit if the songs arent' right. Since Stillmatic, he has had only a handful of rememberful songs.
: Jay Z----Too much too fast. He puts too much out there in my opinion. But his catalog does justify your agrgument.
: Petey Pablo -----No.

: The only reason he is appealing to people is he puts a white face on hip hop, and because he had a bad mother he gets street "cred." Fuck him.
I don't think so. Perhaps when he first came out with the Slim Shady LP but with the release of his last two albums, he has made a name for himself. Especially with The Eminem Show. Dre only produced 3 tracks and they weren't even the highlights of the album. The fact that he's white does enable him to sell more albums, I'm not going to dispute that, but he has skills. As far as street cred, he grew up poor in a poor neighborhood and did what most would NOT. He went to ALL black hip hop establishments and went head to head with BLACK rappers. He got credibility from hip hop b/c he had the skills and he was brave enough to enter a realm that was COMPLETELy ruined for whites half a decade earlier by Vanilla ICE. And is hip hop supposed to be just black? Is there no room for white people in hip hop, seeing that white people buy 80-85% of hip hop records?? In the beginning, it was an urban, street thing that was sacred to the African American community. But since Run DMC, things have changed. It's 2002 and the last 2 generations at least have been raised on hip hop. That's why you have more and more caucasion rappers sprouting up, that's all they've known. I'm not going to sit here and say that Eminem is the greatest rapper of all time, in my opinion, he's not even close....yet. But he's one of the only rappers out there that are even interesting to watch and listen to and the beats are tight.
