Never fear. That beating incident took place several years ago.

On Thursday, he made an appearance at a lecture called "Underground San Francisco" with V.Vale of Re/Search.

He continues to run Alternative Tentacles records.

Jello is alive and well. And Green Day Fans have largely grown up. Although, it wasn't Green Day fans, exactly. It happened at the Gilman and a group of supposedly hard core punx thought Jello was a sell-out and decided to beat him up because they didn't think he was really a part of "the scene."

Gilman is the small punk collective where Green Day (along with Operation Ivy, The Winona Ryders, The Donnas and some other well known Mtv-able band) played many of their early shows.

That whole thing with Jello was just bullshit and you can read his point of view in the book, Punk Planet, the Collected Interviews.

Unless you just happen to have the original issue.

Love,

Thom in the five-one-oh
