: : It will not happen that way this time. We have a pissed off population, a UN sanction, dozens of allies and a trigger happy president. I do believe the mouse is cornered.

: Iraq has more sympathy from not only U.S. citizens, but other countries around the world. That's a main reason why we didn't start bombing his ass earlier - we didn't want other countries pissed off at us. The viewpoint of the U.S. has gotten to be more negative in the past few years if you haven't noticed.

No, Iraqi citizens have sympathy from around the world, that's why we didn't bomb the innocent civilians. That plus the idea that creating further instablity in the middle east will easily cause more terrorists and blah-blah.

: It doesn't matter if we have a UN sanction or whatever. Saddam has always found a way to save his ass. Instead of going to war the last time the inspectors were kicked out (which is what we should have done), we left things alone pretty much.

We weren't kicked out, they withdrew voluntarily after virtually completing their job. It's only now that Bush has retroactively decided that they were kicked out. Instead of just reading today's newspapers and yesterday's, you should go back and read what was said at the time. There's at least as much chance that it was accurate then as that it is now and, considering that the media has pledged to do whatever Bush asks of them, I'd argue the old reports are more believable.

: Russia's likely to stay out of it since they have billions to lose from a trade deal w/Iraq. France will stay out of it, but then they stay out of everything (pussies!). Saudi Arabia says they will not let the U.S. use their land for war unlike the Gulf War.

Don't forget all the other countries who are against this war for one reason or another. We only have two allies there, Israel (because they have to be and, for that matter, are one of the driving forces behind the war) and England (for now). So far, we haven't even been able to get Canada and, based on how we're treating their citizens at the border, I doubt we will.
