: Eminem has more influence over American culture than just about any other artist, in any genre, out there.

Maybe over 10-18 yr. old boys (give or take a few years), but that's only because he's a puppet of MTV & pop. He's just a flash-in-the-pan.

: Probably the majority of people listening to his shit have been raised with misogynistic and homophobic attitudes to begin with.

Not me, but I do think he's a skillfull rapper.

: All you poor guys got is NELLY and BLINK 182

: Yeah, and the kids in the 80's had Tiffany, the kids in the 70's had Leif Garrett, the kids in the 60's had Fabian.

I hope you're just referring to pop music?

: Most pop culture is diluted crap, and it ALWAYS is. "These kids today" are no stupider than the adults who listen to Garth Brooks and Kenny G.

I wouldn't say that. I've talked to both & am only frightened by the amount of stupidity in the younger ones. Although the dumber older ones are more frightening than the younger ones just in general.

: It's up to the discriminating and intelligent individuals of ALL ages to navigate the mainstream culture & learn its lessons, without letting it contaminate their minds. It has nothing to do with a generational gap. You sound like a crotchety old man!

I disagree (if I read you right). A lot of corporations sponsor pop culture these days. It's hard to avoid.

: Get with the times, pops. Eminem is the new Elvis, and he's gonna shake up your pelvis. Like him or hate him, he is VERY important.

Nope. Elvis was revolutionary & broke new ground. Just because Eminem's new doesn't mean he's revolutionary nor broke new ground. Like I said above, he's just a flash-in-the-pan. I like some of his stuff, but I just don't think he's all that. He's just a puppet for MTV & whatever corporation sponsors him.

I would like to see a Sugar Hill Gang / Eminem rap battle though. : )
