Stan IS paid "tribute" money, to the tune of $1M, which is, in essence, a "lifetime acheivement award" salary.

And since Marvel was the "bad guy" of the late 70s about rewarding creator-rights and, in essence, the prime motivating reason for the "creator-owned" movement of Image and the bajillion other splinter companies, I think this is oddly fitting.

Stan Lee is a lovable figure, but this whole thing is actually, I think, pretty much come-uppance... and besides, he is being paid a sort of HONORARY "retirement" salary of ONE MILLION BUCKS a year.
