Yeah, the movie is great, but for some reason, I had a really hard time saying I liked it and I don't know anyone I can actually recommend it to...which seems odd. I think I'm still a little stunned or something...
But then again, I had tried really hard not to read too much about it before seeing it and that which I did know ahead of time, I had long forgotten by the time it hit our video store, so...I don't have the same reaction about the rape scene being overhyped. I don't think that scene is all that bothered me. I just can't pinpoint how I felt afterward watching it.... a little unsettled, but it was more than that....hmmm...I've never had such a hard time reacting to a film before....I know I'm probably weird, but my husband has been feeling the same way, so I guess maybe we're both weird....
: ...I like THE CABLE GUY. I think the rape scene was over-hyped. Everyone says it's so horrible that you get set up to see something that will turn your stomach, but then when you see it, it doesn't live up to your expectations because it was built up soooo much. Not that a rape is not a horrible thing, but the actual scene is not that graphic in terms of seeing a porno movie. That's my take on it. But you see, I just took up a huge space discussing a 5 minute scene in a 90 minute movie. The rest of the movie is really great.
