Inquiry for the tech gurus...

I just got a PNY Verto GeForce 4 PCI card for my computer (as my motherboard does not have an AGP slot) but most games (especially Jedi Knight II) will run slowly or 'stutter'. I cant get a new motherboard as I have windowsXP, which would not be able to handle that. Any help? Thanks in advance.
