: anybody heard anything about it?

In World War II, the American Military found a code that was almost unbreakable, the Navajo language. It's one of the most complex languages in the world, and being only Navajo's can speak it, it was a near perfect code.

Nicholas Cage is one the soldiers assigned to protect a 'wind talker', a navajo officer who can speak the code, he's to protect the wind talker at all costs, but above it the code, kinda implying that he's to kill the wind talker if it ever became clear that his wind talker might fall into enemy hands.

the movie moves on from there.

one of my friends was an extra for the filming, he was one of the thousands of u.s. soldiers on field, the battle scenes were filmed here in hawaii near kualoa ranch. almost all the guns and weapons you see in the film are authentic, meaning real World War II guns, artillery, etc. my friend said when the peices came to the shoot, alot of the guns, thier bayonets had old blood stains on them, these were real guns that had killed real people, so it was kinda eerie in that regard.

the other thing he (John Woo) tried to bring as far as authenticity to the shoot, was all the extras, the soldiers, both sides (the japanese army, and the u.s. forces) were ex-military. meaning they had to be in prime shape, and know how to move on the field during battle.

the only problem was the shoot went over budget at some point, and they had to pack up and leave hawaii and finish the principles up in LA.

all the extras, were promised automatic membership into SAG (screen actors guild), at the completion of the shoot here, but it never happened because of things going to crap here, so alot of extras who were counting on that sorta got screwed.

other than that, haven't seen the film yet, but thats what i know. :'/
