I wish that the original cut of the movie was released on DVD. That is a great disappointment that it was not. Thin Red Line is brilliantly directed, shot, acted and realized. Sure, it is not a great "war" movie but it is a great artistic movie. Unfortunately it was cut to pieces. I would love to see the full 5+ hours.

It is not a movie of "moments" but an overall emotion. It is a poem of love. It should never be taken as a movie about war. War is just its setting. :)

: I agree about the moments being cum worhty, however moments can only take a movie so far. Example Jurassic Park 3 had a few good "moments" but that doesn't stop it from being a horrible movie. Thin Red Line wasn't horrible but it wasn't phenominal either. Visually it was great, but it fell short delivering its message. Like every war movie thats come out in the last five years it's message is war is hell. But I lost the message in Thin Red Line around hour 2. Then I just came out of the moment and could only pick the movie apart from a film student's stand point. And that's never good.
