: She was in the movie for a very small amount. I don't care who you're playing, it was an IMPORTANT roll, but a small roll.

I was referring more to the importance. I should have been more clear on that point.

: As for the rest once again you are another of the people who comes here preaching to the choir. Some are pissed that Kevin Cast her, but they only post once or twice, or get into one argument they can't win and then move on...

I had no idea, I'm not a regular at the board, but a friend of mine is. So, I just heard that a lot of people were bitching about Lopez.

: And you know who actually wins that argument? The REGULAR posters who tell them to shut the fuck up dissing on Kevin's selection of Jell-o until the movie comes out.

Right, right...

: Also, was being presently surprised a typo or a malapropism?

I was serious, maybe not so much surprised by her performance but more so by how God was presented. I liked the whole child-like deity angle, and she played it well. She made it work, and I can't say that I can think of too many actresses who could've in that movie.

: Anyway, the basis of your post is generally sound although you do make the grievous error in thinking that a small part is a big one based on the character... ever seen Monty Python and the Holy Grail? God was in that too... do you consider it a big part? No... I hope you said no.

You're right, again. But I also have to admit to not knowing how big "Jell-O"'s part is. It's larger, I'm sure, but it might not be that important if she's just doing the thankless mom/wife bit.

: I'm sure your saying the bit about her having a bit part because she was, "god for god's sake," was an attempt at being funny so you probably weren't serious anyway.

No, I was referring to the importance of the role, as you assumed.

: Another difference is that Jell-o has already done a bit of acting... Morrissette hadn't. I also think that Jell-o started her music career because she was successful in the movie business.

I can't vouch for this as I'm not too familiar with either woman's careers, I just know I'm not a big fan of their music.

: You're making an all around poor comparison, but the basic premis is to wait and see if she does a good job, which I can't argue with because almost EVERYONE here agrees with that idea.

Good to know, and good to hear. I figured I'd might be annoying some veteran posters, but I still think it's a pretty valid comparison, at least from my point-of-view. That is to say, Morrissette was just some annoying pop star, and I assumed she would give a bad performance. Which was my mistake and is probably the same mistake that the armchair critics (me no longer among them) are going making. Oh well, it's late, maybe I'm not thinking too clearly. My grammar suggests it, anyway. Thanks for your reply/argument, it gives me something to think about. Later.
