BUT he was Sammy...remember, he made up that story to disassociate himself from the fact HE killed his wife, well she let him, Insulin Overdose..
And that was too powerful, so he was just running around after any and every John G. who YES did rape his wife and cause his memory loss and the downfall of his marriage, life, etc....hence the need to create Sammy.
