: You seem to think that my opinion of J.Lo is extreme and is unwarranted based on the fact that I have not "met" her. Well, I know in my line of work, my work reflects on me -- as does it with everyone else -- including Jennifer Lopez. This is the way it is, deal with it.

Not just because you haven't met her, but because you don't know the part in the script.

: But, let's pretend we stick to your idea of "individual roles, different talent" for a minute. You say my opinion of J.Lo being in Jersey Girl has no merit based on the fact that Mr. Smith picked her and that she MAY just be great for the role.

You're close. I said your opinion isn't based on knowledge of the role that the script calls for, knowledge with Mr. Smith does have, and which Mr. Smith did use to pick her for the role.

: I am being practical, if you don't like it, don't respond. I believe people's work reflects on their talent and vice versa, that's MY opinion. Some people get better from time to time. Some people get worse. J.Lo has been the exact same as when I seen her on "In Living Color" 10 years ago. A dancing, singing, publicity engulfed shiny coin.

Yeah, they were knocking down her door when she was on "In Living Color". None of the publicity surrounding that show ever touched any of the Wayans, or David Alan Grier, or Tommy Davidson, or Jamie Foxx, or Chris Rock, or even that Carrey fellow whose name eludes me. All I heard from the media was JLo JLo JLo.

: If your theory suggests that Kevin is undeniably right about J.Lo being great for the part, then your theory suggests you are a hypocrite. In your theory, Kevin has just as much a chance of floundering the whole deal as J.Lo because apparently -- according to your theory -- previous work means dick all yet at the same time you say Kevin's choice is not to be challenged and cannot be (in any way) incorrect?

Are you saying that you've seen every single Jennifer Lopez movie? I can't say for sure which ones you've seen, but I can say that I'd weigh Francis Ford Coppola, Oliver Stone, Steven Soderbergh, and Kevin Smith as four pretty good spotters of talent in actors and actresses. Now I know I haven't seen all of her movies ... and it's entirely possible that she's given bad performances in bad movies, as has Affleck, and many other notable Askew regulars. But "Out of Sight" and "U-Turn" [not to mention, apparently, "Selena", as I haven't seen it yet], these are quality performances that are clearly based on more than just being a pretty face.

And, here's the more important thing. Even if she's bad, how can one bad performance make for a bad movie? After watching all the VA films with my roommates over the past week or two, I can say for certain that Jennifer Lopez would be incapable of being as bad as Jeremy London in "Mallrats", and that's still a great movie.
