Actually, just the opposite is happening. Major studio flicks are more time restrictive because the theaters need higher turnover to get the numbers up.
A good film is a good film no matter how long it is. A bad film is too long regardless.
: is it just me or as of late has it been decided that 2 hrs is not long enough for a movie anymore. Seems like every movie needs to be 2.5 > 3 hours now. Some movies it works (Lord of the Rings) others it doesn't (Ali). I don't know, but some movies I find it hard to sit thru completely, especially in a theatre. As I said, Ali was the worst movie experience of my life. i'm fine with a 90 min > 2 hr movie.
