I mean...by your reasoning, if an actor cries in a movie because the character's mother died of cancer, if my mom died of cancer, I can say it was shit? I can say it was offensive?

I don't think the short was meant to...offend people or be any bigger than it was. They had three movies about New Yorkers affected by the attacks, and they had one giving the point of view of someone who's been close enough to see it.
