no quid pro quo means something for something, but that is no where the same to eye for an eye. Eye for an Eye is more idomatic, meaning that it means if someone wronged you then you do the same to them etc. Something for something is also idomatic but not in the same way.
i dont understand the confusiuon, hell i never even had latin, But i am a Linguist and i translate all the time. You cannot take idioms literally like occulus or whatever...it's not the same.
