Dear Kevin,

I attended your Q&A for ACTOR at the WGA building Friday night. I cannot begin to tell you what an amazing time I had there. I had always heard other's stories about how much fun your college appearances were but had never had the opportunity to attend. Some of us West Coasters don't make it back eastward too often.

I met you for the first time about two, maybe three years ago at a signing at Golden Apple Comics, the summer before Dogma came out. I was struck then by what a really decent guy you were. I had followed your films up until then but was a devoted fan after meeting you there that night. After standing in line for hours and beginning to fear we might get cut off as the hour grew later, when we finally did make it inside, you took the time to not only sign everything we had but to talk to us and ask us about posting here on the board. You even managed to recognize my nickname and quoted me back a bit of some of my posts. Ever since that time I have talked you up to anyone who would listen and probably even more people that wouldn't.

So when I saw the chance to see you this past Friday, it was an opportunity I wouldn't pass up. And wanting to share the experience with someone else who could really appreciate it, I brought my sister along. She was familiar with you, mostly because of me, but she is as big a fan of film as I am and I thought it would be fun to have someone like that with me.

She was excited but I don't really think she had any idea what to expect. But I must tell you, she was blown away by you. If she wasn't a fan before, she certainly is now. We both spent the better part of the 2+ hours in laughter. Just thinking back on it brings a huge smile to my face on an otherwise crappy Monday.

Your Jon Peters story was priceless. The story of your wife, the sweatshirts, all of it was fantastic. It's so obvious to me why I love your movies so much. It's because you are an amazing storyteller, onscreen and off.

Thanks again for one of the truly memorable experiences of my life. It was great to see you and even better to have been able to share the fun with my sister. You made it so fun. Your accessability and big heart make you stand out among those in the entertainment business. I had a great time.

PS -

It was funny listening to you talk to that girl in the audience that went to school with some producer guy you knew or worked with. It reminded me that back before I even knew who you were, I attended college with a guy named Sean Dorherty. We actually pledged the same fraternity together. He was one of my closest friends my freshman year. During that time he was mentioning to me that his sister was back in the midwest somewhere filming a movie. He didn't know the title but I knew who she was. She was the girl from Our House and some new show called Beverly Hills 90210. Of course it was Shannen. Little did I realize that she was filming Mallrats back then and working with you. Small world.
