As for the Whale being dead, yes, the name is done but much of the management, and a few of the former players (game-winner Ronnie Francis) still exist with the franchise. This win is for the city of Raleigh, not Hartford, but Hartford IS a part of the Hurricanes' history. As long as Ron Francis plays for Carolina, a main piece of the Whale lives on...
