: Was it just me, or was the first episode of "The Wire" almost wholly unoriginal? I was hoping for something different, and it kind of let me down. It was simply a mixture of every melodramatic cop show on broadcast TV... albeit with "fucks" thrown into every scene. Personally, it just wasn't as fresh as FX's The Shield.
