Just accepted it as plot points. But I guess Moya realized that Talyn was doing something noble and that he was too powerful to control. I think a parent would want their child to die doing something heroic than to wind up feared and violent.
Plus, the other Leviathan was destroying their own kind. Moya's always been a pacifist, but I think she realized that justice needed to be done.
