Just makes it a bigger issue.
Some people, like myself, get so tired of self importance that I lose faith in a cause because of things like that.
I used to parade my self important civil-rights stuff in front of my mom all the time when I was young, and then I see things like lawsuits against companies for things that happened over a century ago, and the way Halley Berry reacted at the Oscars and I get agitated. I still have my ideals, but they are clouded by equally blind people on the other side of the issue.
Issues don't exist unless we create them.
There are plenty of words that take a double meaning.
To be so touchy that you assume gay meant stupid... that shows a bit too much willingness to provoke a fight over it.
If more people laughed it off then we wouldn't have issues.
