I wouldn't call Dogma pure slapstick like J&SBSB, because I thought Kevin was dealing w/ deeper personal issues. I mean wasn't he addressing deep issues of his own personal faith in Dogma, so even though he approached the movie w/ his own distinct style and flaire for comedy, below it was this deeper subtext to the whole thing? Questions about God, Faith and heirarchical structure of the church vs. personal spirituality. Anyway, thats what I got coming away from it, because alot of the questions he posed reflected my own views.

Amyway. Thats why Dogma is up there for me along w/ Chasing Amy, I mean I think he pulled it off on two levels; he was able to pose these religious questions w/out preaching, and at the same time write and maintain the comedy on the surface.

anyway, thats just what I got out of it. just saying slapstick w/ a really deeper message like Chasing Amy.
